Feet and Fur Kennel

 A LITTLE ABOUT FEET AND FUR: We are a small family-operated kennel that has been raising puppies since 2001 when our older daughter, Heather, decided she needed her baby, Missy, to have at least one litter of Chihuahuas. Since I was a home school mom who loved animals, I decided to hop on the bandwagon and join the fun. I've been spoiling babies ever since.

We started out with everyone in our home but eventually built a beautiful, cozy puppy nursery for our expecting moms and new babies and a separate kennel for our other breeders. Both buildings are heated and cooled, linoleum or tile flooring, with indoor and outdoor access onto concrete runs that can be easily cleaned and disinfected to assure our babies leave our home healthy.

Since downsizing quite a bit, we now are focusing on Shih Tzus and Yorkies.  No babies at this time, but our AKC female, Bridget, is expecting a surprise litter of Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix babies.  How did that happen???  I guess even a dog's life is full of surprises!  That little male Chihuahua, Buddy, can seem to squeeze through anywhere.  Oh well, I'm sure they'll be adorable as well.  No Yorkie babies on the way just yet, but we're hoping Patia will come in soon, and we'll have bouncing babies just around the corner.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE: Once a family has decided to adopt one of our puppies, we allow 24 hrs. for a deposit or full payment to be mailed.  Buyer must provide a tracking number to us by e-mail as verification that the money has been mailed. At the time we receive the tracking number, the puppy will be marked: "SOLD PENDING RECEIPT OF FUNDS". Once the money arrives, we will notify our buyer by e-mail, then remove the puppy from advertising. Any remaining balance is to be received at least 1 week  before scheduled shipping or delivery.

SHIPPING/DELIVERY: We enjoy making deliveries in person whenever possible, with the buyer compensating us for the gas expenses only.  Usually quite a bit cheaper than other delivery services.  If our new families are not within driving distance, we usually ship with American Airlines Priority Parcel (they do not ship cargo and generally get a direct flight to most major airports!). With rising fuel prices, I'm afraid we've had to increase our shipping cost to $275, which covers the airline ticket, shipping crate, vet check and health certificate, doggie toy, and puppy pack.  Ground transportation via a professional van pet transport, is usually also available for around the same cost.

MEDICAL HISTORY: We strive to assure our families of receiving a very healthy, bouncing bundle of love and fluff. Our shot schedule is 5 wks., 8 wks., and 12 wks (with Progard 5 by Intervet). A rabies shot is given once the puppies have turned 12 weeks old. We give puppy shots ourself and have the rabies shots done by a certified vet. Before our puppies are delivered, they are vet checked and receive a clear state health certificate. We start our puppies on a worming schedule at 3 wks. of age and continue to worm regularly until the puppies leave our home. HOUSEBREAKING/PAPER TRAINING: We would LOVE to have all of our babies housebroken when they leave; however, it's just not possible. We do try to have them crate trained so they will not cry when left in their crates, and we try to have them off to a good start on paper training and sometimes going outside. We receive compliments regularly stating how quickly and easily our babies have been housebroken. Like children, though, you never know how it's going to go  Since we're on a smaller scale these days, I'm hoping to keep our babies inside with us until they are ready to leave.   

VISITORS: We ask that visitors refrain from bringing their dogs onto our property. If you must bring your dog with you, please potty them before you arrive and confine them to your vehichle while on our property. It's not that we don't love others' animals, but we must protect our babies from any possibility of contamination, and this also protects your dogs as well. Thank you for being understanding.
